Nursery Stock
Oregon's Tricounty Farm Association would like you to consider us when
you need nursery stock. Check the links at the bottom for a farm near
you that has nursery stock.
Nursery stock is an excellent way to build your home value. Take some
plants and spruce up your yard, fence line or the front of your house.
A few trees here and there are know to add value to your home.
As you think of your home now, what kind of plants or trees would make
it better. At the time of writing this we have some Rhododendrons blooming
in our front yard to the extent that they are laying on the ground from
the weight of the flowers. What a lot of color and pizzazz they add.
For the minor cost of a few nursery stock items and the passage of
time you can get some great results.
Some things to remember when you are placing your nursery stock is
that it may be small now but it will grow. How big will it be? Depends
upon how you care for it. So, when planting next to the house move out
a ways so as not to crowd the wall. At our place there are meters behind
the bushes that need to be accessed. Luckily when the nursery stock
was planted they planted it about 6 feet out. The nursery stock has
grown dramatically since then to a diameter of 8 to 10 feet in the case
of the larger bushes. This still leaves a way to get to the meters to
be read. If the nursery stock had been planted just a foot away then
there would be a problem from the beginning.
If you have the room you can create great walls or designs by using
different nursery stock as the beginning and an idea of how it will
look as it grows out. English gardens are an example of what can be
done with a bit of space and a green thumb.
Also, you may want to consider the animals and neighbors around your
yard. Do you want to grow a privacy screen or soemthing to keep the
deer from stepping on your flowers?
Do you want to have some low plants to ring your water garden?
Do you have too much sun coming in during the summer and it is heating
one of your rooms?
Do you want to have different shades of green or just one solid color?
